I remember the holly tree when it was a lot taller. I remember from the late fifties through the early eighties. It is a little sad to see it now. But I do miss the coming together of friends and neighbors to see the lighting of the tree. Where I live now the small town has a custom of putting up a Christmas tree at the center of town and everyone comes and sings Christmas carols and then goes to one of the churches for hot chocolate or coffee and Christmas cookies.
